Kimi Antonelli Leads 2026 F1 Drivers' Standings After Mexico City GP
Kimi Antonelli has secured the 2026 Formula 1 world championship while maintaining his position at the top of the drivers' standings following the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver has accumulated 380 points after finishing third at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The result leaves him 119 points clear of his closest rival, Max Verstappen, who now occupies second place with 261 points.
Verstappen collected an additional 25 points after winning the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver maintained his advantage to the chequered flag despite sustained pressure from Lewis Hamilton during the closing stages. The victory moved him into second place in the championship, two points ahead of Hamilton, who has collected 259 points.
The battle behind Antonelli remains competitive, particularly among the four drivers occupying positions from second to fifth. Hamilton sits third with 259 points, followed by George Russell on 250 and Charles Leclerc on 245. The gap between Verstappen and Leclerc stands at just 16 points, keeping the contest for second place open as the championship continues.

In sixth place, Lando Norris has collected 221 points for McLaren, while team-mate Oscar Piastri occupies seventh with 144 points. Isack Hadjar sits eighth on 107 points, followed by Liam Lawson with 83. Pierre Gasly completes the top ten with 42 points for Alpine.
Outside the top ten, Arvid Lindblad holds 11th place with 38 points, ahead of Franco Colapinto on 27. Oliver Bearman is 13th with 23 points, while Audi drivers Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg have collected 14 and 13 points respectively.
Several other drivers remain below the ten-point mark. Esteban Ocon, Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz have seven points each, followed by Alexander Albon on five. Yuki Tsunoda and Ryo Hirakawa have one point apiece, while Lance Stroll, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez have yet to score following the Mexico City Grand Prix.
With the drivers' world championship now secured by Antonelli, attention turns to the remaining positions in the standings. The Brazilian Grand Prix is the next round on the 2026 Formula 1 calendar, with Verstappen, Hamilton, Russell and Leclerc still involved in the battle among the leading positions behind the newly crowned champion.
