World Endurance Championship newcomer Genesis has claimed a historic maiden pole position at the Barcelona 6 Hours thanks to a stellar qualifying performance from Mathys Jaubert. The French driver delivered a stunning masterclass during the tense 10-minute Hyperpole session at the iconic Spanish circuit.
Behind the wheel of the #17 Genesis GMR-001 LMDh hypercar, Jaubert set two consecutive flying laps good enough to secure the top spot on the starting grid for Sunday's endurance showdown. He initially posted a 1m30.329s on his first push lap before shaving more than a tenth off to clock an exceptional 1m30.166s.
That blistering lap time gave him a comfortable margin of nearly two tenths over Ryo Hirakawa, who drove the #8 Toyota GR010 HYBRID Le Mans Hypercar to second place on the front row with a 1m30.336s effort. Meanwhile, the second factory-backed Genesis machine, the #19 entry driven by Mathieu Jaminet, rounded out the top three with a solid 1m30.490s lap.

Alpine secured the fourth position on the grid courtesy of Charles Milesi in the #35 A424 LMDh, while Will Stevens put the Jota-run Cadillac V-Series.R in fifth place. The competitive field promises an unpredictable and thrilling six-hour battle as teams look to optimize their tire degradation and fuel strategy.
Further down the order, several heavyweights faced struggles during the opening phases of qualifying, setting the stage for a dramatic race day where consistency and reliability will be absolute keys to championship success.
