Max Verstappen has described racing in front of the passionate home crowd at Zandvoort as a 'privilege' ahead of what will be the final Dutch Grand Prix on the Formula 1 calendar.
Zandvoort drops off the schedule after this weekend's event, marking the sixth time the circuit has hosted a race since its return in 2021, largely thanks to Max Verstappen's immense popularity.
Of the five previous editions, Verstappen has claimed victory three times, from 2021 to 2023, and finished second in both 2024 and 2025. His average finishing position of 1.4 at Zandvoort is second only to his perfect 1.0 at Imola.
For the first time, Zandvoort will also host a Sprint race, adding to the anticipation of Verstappen's final home appearance.
“We have relaxed and recharged after the summer break, and I'm excited to head straight into Zandvoort race week,” said Verstappen. “It will be a special one for myself and the fans, as this is the final Dutch Grand Prix before it leaves the calendar.”
“I have had so many good memories here in Zandvoort, and to have been able to race in front of my home crowd for the past few years has been a privilege and one of my many highlights.”
Verstappen will also sport a special helmet this weekend, featuring a design inspired by the famous Delft Blue pottery. “This is a very traditional and beautiful pattern and something a bit more unique for the final race,” he explained. “The helmet is a tribute to the Dutch fans for their continued support through the years, so we are hoping to do them proud this weekend.”
