The battle for the MotoGP world championship took a dramatic turn when Jorge Martin arrived at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia with a massive mission to keep his title hopes alive. He arrived trailing only 10 points behind Marc Marquez at the top of the standings. However, severe misfortune quickly derailed his championship aspirations.

The root cause dates back just six days prior, when he suffered a heavy crash during the Sprint Race at Phillip Island, Australia, resulting in a fractured distal radius in his right wrist. Despite the severe injury, his determination to fight for the world title pushed him to fly to Malaysia, where he was initially cleared to participate in Friday's Free Practice 1 and Practice sessions, and even attempted to ride during Saturday morning's FP2 session.

The Sepang layout proved to be an insurmountable obstacle for his injured physical condition. The circuit demands extremely hard braking zones, particularly when turning right, which places direct pressure on his injured right wrist. Due to excruciating pain and the inability to withstand braking loads, he could only manage a disappointing 21st position during the practice sessions.

Recognizing the extreme risks involved, a crucial discussion with medical staff and the Aprilia management led to the official announcement of his withdrawal from the remainder of the Malaysian GP weekend. This safety-first decision aims to prevent further aggravated damage to his wrist. He will now travel back to Spain for immediate recovery to ensure his return for the upcoming round in Qatar.
