The premier Australian touring car championship is poised for a major stability boost as paddock stakeholders finally put an end to months of tense negotiations. Supercars leadership confirmed that a collective agreement has officially been reached among all team owners regarding critical modifications to the Teams Racing Charter.
The long-awaited 2027 schedule rollout experienced significant delays while management worked tirelessly behind the scenes to resolve a standoff with five breakaway squads that had initially rejected the ownership group's commercial proposals. The complex situation previously threatened to shrink the upcoming season down to a truncated 12-round format.
However, a breakthrough occurred when the RACE consortium struck a revised financial arrangement with the dissenting outfits. Under the newly brokered terms, the five teams will secure higher annual payouts, whereas the remaining seven squads are positioned to receive lucrative bonus returns when the business eventually changes hands in the future.
"We’ve got a collective agreement between all the team owners with regards to how the TRC will be finalised," management explained to Speedcafe on Sunday, adding that final sign-off is expected imminently before the public calendar reveal takes place within the week.
The resolution brings tremendous relief to the wider motorsport community, clearing the path for a robust 14-round calendar featuring notable circuit shifts, such as Phillip Island making its much-anticipated return to the schedule for the first time since 2019.
