Stellantis Showcases Wayve AI in Fiat 500e and Maserati Grecale

Stellantis and Wayve are set to make a splash at the Wave by Vento 2026 event in Turin from October 7-9. They will offer test drives in specially equipped prototypes of the Fiat 500e and Maserati Grecale, both featuring STLA AutoDrive technology. The goal is clear: to demonstrate how artificial intelligence (AI) can make mobility safer, more intuitive, and more useful in daily life.

During a discussion, the CEOs of both companies will explain how strategic collaborations can accelerate the development of technologies designed for large-scale implementation. This isn't just talk; Stellantis is heavily investing in automated driving.

Technically, these prototypes integrate the Wayve AI Driver system with the STLA AutoDrive platform. As a result, the vehicles showcase Level 2++ supervised automated driving capabilities, door-to-door and hands-free. This means the driver remains in control, but AI handles tedious tasks like traffic jams or parking.

These two prototypes join the Jeep Grand Cherokee that was presented at Stellantis' Investor Day in May. This move underscores Stellantis' commitment to bringing production-ready autonomous vehicles to market.

The strategic partnership between Stellantis and Wayve was announced in May of this year. Initially, it focuses on supervised automated driving for highway and urban environments. According to an official Stellantis statement, the first production product is scheduled for 2028 in North America.

For motorsport fans, the presence of AI in high-performance vehicles is no longer a dream. The technology showcased in Turin could be the precursor to innovations that eventually make their way into racing. Who knows, in a few years we might see race cars with AI assistants suggesting the best racing lines.

One thing is certain: the Wave by Vento 2026 event will be a crucial stage for Stellantis to prove they are serious about developing autonomous cars. We look forward to seeing those prototypes in action on the streets of Turin.
