Marco Toro, President and CEO of Nissan Italy, has been appointed to the Scientific Committee of ELMO, the National Inter-University Consortium for the Electrification of Mobility. This move underscores Nissan's strategic role in driving electric mobility innovation in Italy.
ELMO, led by Professor Santolo Meo of the University of Naples Federico II, unites research groups from 15 Italian universities. Its mission is clear: to integrate knowledge, skills, and resources to accelerate technology transfer in sustainable mobility. ELMO focuses on converters, electric machines, and drive systems for land, sea, and air transport.
Toro's appointment is more than a formality. He will serve as an industry expert, providing practical perspectives in drafting multi-year activity plans, proposing development initiatives, and offering opinions on scientific aspects related to the consortium's goals. This bridges the gap between academia and the automotive industry.

This step continues Nissan's commitment to supporting Italy's energy transition. Toro has previously collaborated with several universities, including the University of Naples Federico II, through the Nissan e-4U project. This initiative introduces engineering students to the automotive sector and technologies for sustainable, safe, and connected mobility.
The Nissan e-4U program comprises four phases: theoretical training through seminars on leadership and future mobility, experimental training with road and lab tests of Nissan technologies, collaborative research, and internships. It equips students with practical skills and creates a talent pipeline for the industry.
With Toro joining ELMO, Nissan strengthens its position as a key player in Italy's EV ecosystem. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the development of mobility solutions that are environmentally friendly, economical, and socially inclusive. For car enthusiasts, it signals that the future of electric vehicles is closer, backed by synergy between academic research and industry expertise.

Looking ahead, ELMO will continue to drive research and higher education in electrification, and support government planning for sustainable mobility. Toro's role on the scientific committee ensures that the industry's voice is heard in every policy decision.
