Young talent Jose Antonio Rueda has openly detailed the most harrowing aspects of the severe injuries he sustained during a massive Sepang Moto3 crash one year ago. The horrific incident occurred on the warm-up lap when his machine collided heavily with the back of Noah Dettwiler's bike upon exiting the third corner, sending both competitors straight to the hospital with serious medical conditions.

Although Rueda experienced a relatively quicker discharge from medical care, the heavy crash prematurely halted a crucial phase of his career shortly after securing the Moto3 world championship crown in Indonesia. Speaking in a video published on the official Instagram page of Red Bull KTM Ajo, the Spanish rider shared the mental fortitude required to navigate his grueling rehabilitation process.

Rueda emphasized that his primary driving force during the long months of recovery was simply the overwhelming desire to ride a motorcycle again. Alongside his personal passion for racing, unwavering support from his father served as an indispensable pillar, ensuring that quitting was never an option during his darkest moments on the sidelines.

However, the recovery path was plagued by severe physical hurdles that created deep uncertainty regarding his timeline. Rueda highlighted that the single worst element of his post-crash ordeal was the extreme nerve tension concentrated around his neck and shoulder, which temporarily robbed him of the ability to lift his arm and cast doubt on his athletic future.

The lingering effects of the Sepang accident subsequently compromised his rookie Moto2 campaign, leading to further surgeries that extended well into the 2026 season. Despite lacking proper preseason preparations and battling physical complications like arm pump mid-season, Rueda maintains a pragmatic mindset, refusing to use his medical setbacks as excuses while continuing to learn and adapt within the fiercely competitive intermediate class.
