The IntactGP squad faced a bittersweet conclusion to their race weekend at Phillip Island as severe weather conditions ultimately forced the cancellation of Sunday's main event. Team manager Peter Ottl admitted the team held high aspirations for a strong points finish after witnessing consistent pace from both riders across varying track conditions throughout the event.
Heading into Sunday, David Almansa and his teammate were slated to start from 11th and 16th on the grid. While those starting slots did not fully reflect their true raw pace on the high-speed Australian layout due to the heavy reliance on slipstream tactics during single lap qualifying, the garage remained remarkably confident about their race-day prospects.
Strong foundations were laid during Friday's opening practice under sunny skies, where both riders secured direct entry into Q2. Even when heavy rain disrupted Saturday's running, the competitive speed remained evident despite minor crashes, proving the machinery was dialed in for both dry and wet tarmac.

Addressing the difficult decision by race officials, Ottl emphasized that medical helicopter visibility constraints left no room for compromise regarding rider safety. Although the racing surface itself remained suitable for riding, the absence of proper air medical evacuation routes made the cancellation unavoidable.
The frustration extended toward the passionate grandstand crowds who endured the miserable weather conditions until the very end. With the Australian chapter now closed without a race result, the entire crew immediately shifts their preparation focus toward the upcoming round in Malaysia.
