The surprising strategic move executed by PremiAir Racing ahead of the Gold Coast event by recruiting Murray from Erebus Motorsport has instantly paid off. The unusual maneuver, orchestrated through General Motors, successfully allowed both squads to gain an early head start on their development plans heading toward the 2027 season.
Both drivers immediately proved their competitive mettle by making the Top 10 Shootout on Sunday and running comfortably inside the points before late fuel strategies forced them into additional pit stops. Nonetheless, Roland Dane was full of praise for the newcomer, whose career had seemingly stagnated during a turbulent second campaign with his previous outfit.
"He totally justified his position in the team," remarked Roland Dane regarding the driver who is now paired alongside rookie talent Jayden Ojeda. "It’s great to have him on board. He lifted the garage. I’m really looking forward to them both pushing each other." The fresh dynamic inside the garage has evidently breathed new life into the team's operational rhythm.

Ojeda has stood out as one of the most promising full-time rookies this season, currently sitting 14th in the overall championship standings. Murray certainly laid down a strong marker by out-qualifying his teammate across both races at the Surfers Paradise street circuit, a competitive internal rivalry that Dane believes will ultimately benefit both drivers' progression.
"I think any driver benefits from having a teammate who’s bringing the same level of speed," Dane explained. "[It means] you can talk a common language about what you need to go faster or whatever within the team. So it is needed, and that’s why we’ve done it. I think it’ll be a benefit to both of them." With the initial hurdles cleared, the team now looks ahead to the upcoming rounds with renewed optimism.
