A high-drama incident unfolded during Saturday morning's Race 2 at the Gold Coast 500 when David Sieders suffered a massive crash that he candidly described as the most terrifying accident of his racing career. At the time of the mishap, Sieders was comfortably running in fourth position and held a nearly two-second gap over the chasing pack.
The trouble began when Sieders clipped the first tyre bundle located at the chicane, instantly unsettling the balance of his #1 Mazda BT-50. The slight contact pitched the vehicle violently into the concrete wall before it bounced sideways directly back onto the active racing line.
Carrying full commitment through the fast complex, trailing competitors faced an impossible situation with zero time to react cleanly. Despite locking up the brakes in a desperate bid to scrub off speed, a heavy impact occurred squarely into the passenger door of the stricken Mazda, sending shockwaves through the paddock.

The secondary chaos compounded rapidly as another contender, Liam Cottrell, arrived at the scene and made contact with Sieders at a slightly reduced speed. Miraculously, all drivers emerged from the wreckage sore but otherwise unscathed, immediately checking on one another's well-being following the terrifying ordeal.
Speaking to Speedcafe, Sieders voiced his ongoing frustrations regarding the controversial reintroduction of tyre bundles at the chicane, arguing that the heavy barriers continue to present an annoying and hazardous obstacle for closely-fought racing fields.
