Spanish rising star Pedro Acosta has finally broken his silence regarding swirling speculations about his high-profile switch to the Borgo Panigale factory for the upcoming MotoGP era. Tensions rose when KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister claimed that the young rider's departure was fueled by a strong desire to defeat the multi-time world champion on identical machinery.
The comments pointed to a private conversation before the rider decided to exit. Neumeister revealed he tried desperately to keep the talent within the Austrian manufacturer's stable, offering lucrative financial terms and competitive bike promises. However, the rider maintained that money was never the primary driving factor behind his career-defining choice.
Speaking during the Indonesian GP weekend, the Spaniard clarified that no actual contract negotiations took place with his former employers. Instead, his decision to commit to the factory Ducati squad was driven purely by the objective of securing the most competitive bike on the grid from the dominant powerhouse of recent years.

Furthermore, he firmly dismissed the narrative that his move was an obsession to outpace Marc Marquez on equal equipment. Rather, sharing a garage with the veteran icon presents an invaluable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gather knowledge directly from the absolute benchmark of modern motorcycle racing.
"It's not about beating Marc. It's true that the only reason I wanted to go with Marc was that I'm not going to have any more opportunities to learn from the best rider in history, or the best rider of the last 15 years," he explained. He emphasized that aligning himself with the legend will ultimately benefit his long-term career trajectory.
