Ahead of the 2026 Mandalika MotoGP, the NTB Regional Police are not taking any chances. The Puma Jatanras Rapid Response Unit has been deployed to map potential security threat points around The Mandalika area in Central Lombok.
Mobile patrols under the Enhanced Routine Activity (KRYD) were conducted on Thursday (03/09/2026) from afternoon to night. Led by Puma Jatanras Chief AKP Agus Eka Artha, the team swept strategic routes from Langko Street, the Lombok International Airport (BIL) roundabout, to the BIL-Mandalika Bypass and Kuta.
Early Anticipation of Security Threats and Theft
NTB Police Spokesperson Senior Commissioner Mohammad Kholid emphasized that this patrol is not merely routine. Personnel are simultaneously mapping areas with the potential for security disturbances ahead of the international motorcycle racing event.
The surveillance focus is on potential 3C crimes: theft with weight (curat), theft with violence (curas), and motor vehicle theft (curanmor). Locations where groups of people or youths gather that could trigger unrest are also under strict watch.
Mapping Vulnerable Points for Mandalika Security Strategy
The results of this patrol and mapping will serve as crucial input for developing a more robust security strategy. The data is reported to the NTB Police Chief as a basis for determining subsequent anticipatory measures.
Kholid stressed that Mandalika MotoGP security must not begin only when the event starts. Early mapping and monitoring are deemed vital to keep the circuit area safe and conducive for locals and tourists alike.
Until night, the team continued patrols along the Sengkol-Kuta route and returned to the NTB Police HQ around 8:00 PM local time for consolidation. Situation monitoring continues via radio communication to ensure potential threats are identified early.
