A host of MotoGP stars have voiced their profound disappointment regarding Phillip Island’s impending departure from the world championship calendar. This weekend's Australian Grand Prix marks the final visit to the iconic venue before the series shifts to a revamped Adelaide street circuit next year. Measuring 4.4 kilometers, the layout has captured the hearts of the entire grid due to its high-speed nature, dramatic elevation changes, and timeless old-school characteristics.
As the sole Australian representative on the premier class grid, Jack Miller showered immense praise on his home circuit, detailing why navigating its sweeping corners remains a unique challenge. The emotions running through the paddock are exceptionally high, with riders recognizing the venue as one of the most historic stops capable of producing breathtaking racing spectacles.
"[The emotions are] pretty high," Miller explained regarding the weekend's significance. "It’s probably one of the most iconic tracks on the calendar and produced arguably some of the best races we've ever seen in MotoGP." He further described the physical sensation of mastering the layout as dancing with the motorcycle while constantly managing bike shaking, wheelies, and unpredictable coastal crosswinds.

KTM standout Pedro Acosta placed the venue on the same pedestal as legendary motorcycle cathedrals like Mugello and Jerez. The young Spaniard emphasized how deeply fans connect with the riders thanks to the venue's intimate layout, making the impending farewell a bittersweet moment for everyone involved in the championship.
"On one side, it will be beautiful for everyone; and on the other one, it will be so sad," Acosta stated while reflecting on the final Melbourne weekend. As the grid prepares for the ultimate showdown, changing coastal weather conditions are setting the stage for a dramatic and proper send-off to one of motorsport's most beloved circuits.
