Marc Marquez had to accept a bitter reality at the 2026 British MotoGP. The Ducati rider could only finish seventh in the race at Silverstone on Sunday (9/8/2026) evening WIB. The result kept him fourth in the standings with 200 points, now 40 behind leader Jorge Martin.

Marquez was actually fourth early on, but his pace faded and riders passed him one by one. He eventually finished 9.6 seconds behind winner Raul Fernandez.

"I expected a tough race. The bike and tyres worked well, but I couldn't find a way to get more performance. Seventh was realistically what we expected," said the former Repsol Honda man.

This is a blow for Marquez, who had closed to 18 points after two straight wins at Sachsenring. Now the gap is 40. "My ambition remains the same. I'll approach each race the same way, but I also have to be realistic and not rush," he added.

Marquez insists he will fight for the title, but won't force things if the bike or his body aren't up to it. "I'll keep fighting when possible," he stated.

Despite the gap, Marquez still has 10 rounds to chase Martin. The 2026 title fight is far from over.
