MotoGP Austria FP1: Acosta Fastest, Marquez Fourth

Pedro Acosta laid down an early marker at the Red Bull Ring, dominating the opening practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix. The KTM rider set a blistering 1'29.851 to top the timesheets, while Marc Marquez had to settle for fourth.

The session began under cool conditions, with riders taking their time to build up speed. Acosta, however, wasted no time in asserting his authority, and his benchmark remained unchallenged. Marquez briefly held third but ultimately finished fourth as the chequered flag fell.

Several riders were absent: Joan Mir was replaced by Takaaki Nakagami at Honda, and Maverick Vinales was substituted by Pol Espargaro at KTM. Ai Ogura returned to action after his Silverstone injury and will be re-evaluated after FP1.

Jorge Martin suffered an early setback when his Aprilia stopped, forcing him to pull off the track. Pol Espargaro also crashed but was unhurt. Bezzecchi showed promising pace in fifth, with the top twelve covered by just one second. Pecco Bagnaia struggled down in fourteenth.

In the final ten minutes, Acosta tried to improve but the track temperature wasn't ideal. Alex Marquez had a moment and had to return to the pits with a loose part. Ultimately, Acosta remained fastest, with Marquez watching from fourth.

Acosta's performance signals a strong challenge for the Austrian GP, while Marquez will look to bounce back in FP2. With the Red Bull Ring demanding bravery and engine performance, the battle is far from over.

FP2 will be crucial for riders to fine-tune their setups. Will Acosta continue his dominance, or will Marquez and others respond? Stay tuned.
