Hong Kong-based squad Mercedes-AMG Team Craft-Bamboo Racing is set to stand out at the Suzuka 1000km with liveries inspired by taxis from Japan and Hong Kong, past and present. The team will field two Mercedes-AMG GT3 entries in the Intercontinental GT Challenge round.
The Pro class entry features Maxime Martin, Luca Stolz, and Kakunoshin Ohta. Meanwhile, Kevin Tse, Daisuke Yamawaki, and Joao Paulo de Oliveira will pilot the Pro-Am car. This strong line-up reflects the team's ambition to fight for top honours in both categories.
Team director Darryl O'Young expressed his excitement: "Returning to Suzuka with a two-car entry is something everyone at Mercedes-AMG Team Craft-Bamboo Racing is looking forward to. Suzuka is one of the greatest circuits in the world and it always presents an enormous challenge, not just for the drivers, but for the entire team as well."
O'Young also highlighted last year's success: "After our success in Pro-Am last year, we are motivated to come back and fight for another big result. We hope the Japan and Hong Kong taxi-inspired liveries will make this campaign even more memorable for the team and our fans."
He added, "Maxime and Luca are currently second and third in the IGTC drivers' championship, so we hope to carry the baton well for Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing." The Suzuka 1000km takes place on September 11-13, and model maker Tarmac Works will produce diecast replicas of the liveried cars.
