McLaren has officially unveiled a new logo ahead of a new chapter in its automotive and motorsport ambitions. The Woking-based team, founded by legendary Bruce McLaren, announced an "evolved identity" as a symbol of its relentless spirit of innovation.
63 Years of Legacy and the Spirit of Bruce McLaren
Since its founding in 1963, McLaren has become an icon in racing, especially Formula 1, with an impressive collection of constructors' titles. The new logo retains the iconic Speedmark but with a different colour and tone. "There is something uniquely special about McLaren. Throughout our history, we've never been content to follow established paths," said David Woodhouse, Chief Creative Officer of McLaren Automotive.
Evolution of Identity, Not Revolution
Lou McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer, emphasised that this new identity is an evolution, not a change to Bruce McLaren's original vision. "McLaren has evolved enormously over the years, but looking back through our shared history, it's poignant how much of Bruce's original vision and spirit still runs through the business today," she said. According to her, this identity bridges heritage and future ambition.
Big Steps Towards the Future
McLaren isn't stopping at rebranding. They have big plans, including a WEC Hypercar entry and their first SUV. This move demonstrates McLaren's ambition to continue innovating and expanding its reach in the automotive and motorsport world. With this new identity, McLaren is ready to challenge a new era with the same spirit as when Bruce McLaren started it all.
