Formula 1, Sportrik Media - McLaren has announced a strategic expansion beyond motorsport with the launch of McLaren Golf, a new engineering-led venture described by CEO Zak Brown as a “natural step” for the brand.
The initiative aims to introduce what the company calls a new benchmark in golf equipment, leveraging decades of expertise in elite motorsport and supercar engineering. McLaren Golf will combine high-performance engineering principles with specialist knowledge from within the golf industry to create a premium product portfolio.
CEO of McLaren Golf Neil Howie outlined the project’s vision, positioning it as more than a conventional sporting equipment line.
“McLaren Golf is a high-end, engineering-led venture which goes beyond the equipment. We’re building a brand grounded in McLaren’s high-performance DNA and embedding it in a new sporting arena,” Howie stated.
The official launch is scheduled for April 29, with the company emphasising innovation, precision engineering and performance optimisation as core pillars. According to McLaren, the project integrates leading engineering minds with experienced figures from the golf world to push technological boundaries in the sport.
Brown reinforced that the move aligns with McLaren Racing’s broader performance philosophy.
“At McLaren Racing, we’re driven by performance and the pursuit of excellence in everything we do. Taking our benchmark-setting engineering standards from the grid to the golf course feels like a natural step, and one that opens the McLaren brand to a new audience,” Brown explained.
The expansion reflects McLaren’s continued diversification strategy, extending its high-performance engineering identity beyond Formula 1 while strengthening global brand reach during a competitive 2026 season.
