Jorge Martin arrives at Aragon as the championship leader, but he knows this weekend could be Marc Marquez's chance to close the gap. Speaking in the pre-event press conference, the Aprilia rider acknowledged the reigning champion's dominance at this circuit.
Jorge Martin still leads the standings by 40 points over Marc Marquez. However, MotorLand Aragon has always been Marquez's fortress, and with 37 points up for grabs, the gap could shrink. Martin is well aware of that.
“I'm curious to start this weekend and confirm our speed,” said Martin, who impressed at Silverstone with a Sprint win and a second place in the main race. “Silverstone could be a turning point, but we still have work to do. The last few races were up and down, so it's important to be consistent again.”

Martin also highlighted Marquez's superiority on counter-clockwise tracks. “We know Marquez is the king of Aragon, and this year he's been very strong on those circuits. Forget winning, just fighting with him would be a great result,” he added.
However, Martin refuses to get caught up in the rivalry. “I only focus on what I can control. I can't control whether he's fast or not. The important thing is to work hard and score as many points as possible,” he stressed. This approach earned him the 2024 title, and he's trying to repeat it now.
With Aprilia's continued improvement, the Martin vs Marquez duel at Aragon promises to be one of the hottest battles of the season. Can Martin maintain his lead, or will Marquez reign supreme again?
