Former Formula 1 driver and broadcaster Martin Brundle has joined forces with his daughter Charlie and California-based specialist Gunther Werks to create an extraordinarily exclusive air-cooled sports car masterpiece. This unique restomod project takes a reworked Porsche 911 Turbo platform and elevates it into an absolute powerhouse designed specifically for driving purists.
Named the Brundle Edition Turbo, this bespoke machine is slated for an extremely limited production run with only five examples ever to be built worldwide. Charlie Brundle, an accomplished automotive designer whose professional portfolio includes prestigious stints at manufacturers such as McLaren, Aston Martin, and Jaguar Land Rover, took full charge of leading the visual design aspects for the entire project.
Drawing upon decades of top-tier motorsport experience behind the wheel, the former racing driver helped calibrate how the machine behaves dynamically, including the fine-tuning of its dedicated Sport and Track settings. The collaborative effort successfully merges real-world racing insights from the paddock with cutting-edge automotive styling expertise.
Propelling the lightweight chassis is a rear-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that generates a staggering 860 horsepower alongside 610 lb-ft of torque. Catering directly to traditional driving enthusiasts, power is channeled exclusively to the rear wheels via a traditional six-speed manual gearbox.
Despite possessing race-bred performance figures, the veteran driver insists the car remains remarkably civilized and completely usable for normal public road driving. He highlights that the core charm of a Gunther Werks vehicle lies in its ability to offer extreme track capability while retaining daily road-going refinement.
Aesthetically, the vehicle features an adjustable rear wing, aggressive front canards, high-performance Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and forged magnesium wheels bearing unique branding. The exterior is finished in a striking two-tone pearl paint scheme inspired by his historic racing helmet, alongside dedicated identification badging on the engine cover.
Inside the cabin, the headrests showcase a custom monogram designed by Charlie, while the dashboard endplates feature the authentic signature of the British motorsport icon. The interior trim also proudly displays a famous quote synonymous with his racing career philosophy regarding driver input.
Furthermore, purchasers of the vehicle will receive a matching Bell HP77 helmet painted in the identical color livery, personally signed and fully certified for official race track use. The stunning creation is set to make its official public debut at the prestigious Concours at Wynn Las Vegas event.
