“Look at today's podium, two medium tyres and one soft, the medium was the best. Tomorrow Bezzecchi with the medium will be very fast, but I've already scored 12 points today, for 20 tomorrow I'll sign for it,” Marquez told Sky Sport Italia, hinting that he is more than satisfied with his Sprint result and is ready to accept second place as long as he stays ahead of Bezzecchi.
However, Marquez won't pass up the chance of a double victory if it comes his way. He explained that choosing the medium tyre for the Sprint was a no-brainer. “Looking at the data, it was clear that the medium was the best even for the Sprint. Even on the bike, the soft didn't give me a good feeling; in fact, today with the soft I risked finishing third,” he said.
Marquez also admitted that he 'fell asleep' mid-race after a blistering start, allowing Bezzecchi to close in. “I fell asleep, I didn't think Bezzecchi would catch up immediately. The overtake? The key is how you release the clutch at the start; we usually start well and today was the same,” he added.
With this impressive performance, Marquez has solidified his position as the main title challenger. The Sprint win at Misano not only gave him valuable points but also a mental boost for the long race at the same circuit. The pressure now shifts to Marco Bezzecchi, who must deliver a flawless performance in front of his home crowd to avoid falling further behind.
Sunday's race at Misano will be the real test for both Marquez and Bezzecchi. With a smart tyre strategy and high confidence, Marquez seems ready to control the race, even if he has to settle for second place. One thing is clear: this season's title fight is heating up, and every point will count.
