The 2026 Hard Enduro World Championship finale in Aguilar de Campoo, Spain, delivered an unforgettable spectacle as Mario Roman claimed an emotional home victory in the main event dubbed The Lost Road. Riding for Husqvarna, the local hero staged a remarkable charge from the seventh row of the grid before seizing control of the race and pulling away during the final three laps to seal the top step of the podium in front of his passionate home crowd.
This stunning win comes eight years after Roman first triumphed on Hixpania soil. Reflecting on his phenomenal recovery drive, he shared his overwhelming joy of winning in front of his family and friends. "Vor meiner Familie, meinen Freunden und dem ganzen Publikum zu gewinnen, ist unglaublich. Ich konnte es kaum fassen – es ist schwer, an sich zu glauben, wenn alle voll am Limit fahren und man selbst das Tempo nicht hat. Aber dieses Mal wusste ich, dass ich das Tempo habe," Roman stated regarding his aggressive charge through the field.
Meanwhile, the championship battle had already been settled earlier in the weekend. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing star Manuel Lettenbichler officially secured his fifth consecutive world title and his sixth overall on Friday following a dominant prologue performance. Although he entered the main race with the championship already wrapped up, the German rider still pushed hard and finished in second place after engaging in a fierce tactical duel through the rocky sections against Roman.

Lettenbichler admitted that the tricky terrain demanded calculated moves rather than reckless risks, ensuring he crossed the finish line safely while still giving the fans a show. "Es war auf jeden Fall ein ziemlich gutes Rennen, und die Fans waren richtig gut – sie haben alle angefeuert," Lettenbichler commented. He noted that despite trying his absolute best to chase down the local favorite, Roman proved to be exceptionally strong on the day.
Rounding out the competitive field at the season finale, Husqvarna's Billy Bolt secured third place, while Mitch Brightmore brought his GASGAS home in fourth. Lettenbichler's dominant campaign culminated with 223 championship points, comfortably clear of Brightmore with 183 points and Teodor Kabakchiev with 149 points in the final standings.
