This weekend marks the final time MotoGP will race at the breathtaking Phillip Island venue before the Australian Grand Prix officially relocates to Adelaide in 2027, creating what is widely anticipated as an emotional farewell. Known as a left-hand circuit layout, the historic Australian track has historically served as a familiar hunting ground for the Spanish superstar throughout his illustrious career.
The coastal venue has witnessed some of the most unforgettable masterclasses from the multi-time world champion, highlighted by his hard-fought podium with Honda back in 2022, a masterclass in 2024 when he recovered from a poor start to defeat Jorge Martin, and his brilliant tactical pressure on Maverick Vinales that forced a final-lap error for victory in 2019.
Despite the glorious moments, the circuit has also delivered heartbreak and dramatic setbacks, such as a massive high-speed collision with Johann Zarco in 2018 and a costly disqualification in 2013. Entering the crucial stages of the 2026 championship battle, Marquez arrives in Australia trailing the current standings leader by a mere two points.

Phillip Island is an extraordinary circuit, racing here for the last time will be emotional, stated Marquez when reflecting on the historic final weekend at the track. It is a track with a unique, breathtaking layout. Here I won one of my first races with Ducati and we are motivated to do well, ready to fight right away for the positions that matter.
On the other side of the garage, factory stablemate Francesco Bagnaia approaches the weekend aiming to conquer a circuit where he has yet to secure a premier class victory, though the venue played a vital foundational role in his championship-winning campaigns of 2022 and 2023.
It will be the last time on this track, a circuit where I haven't managed to win yet, but which holds an incredible charm, an extraordinary layout, and pure adrenaline, Bagnaia shared ahead of track action. Let's work hard from Friday and get the most out of our package.
