Marc Marquez Admits He Prefers to Leave Doha Immediately Amid Paddock Tension

Ahead of the race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit, Marc Marquez made no secret of his reluctance to be in Qatar. The championship leader openly admitted that he would rather be anywhere else given the uneasy geopolitical backdrop surrounding the venue.

The factory Ducati rider arrived with a strict itinerary designed to minimize his time spent at the track. He purposefully caught the latest possible flight into the country and plans to catch the earliest available flight out as soon as the weekend's on-track obligations conclude.

"I mean, I would like to be in another place," the Spanish star stated during a sparsely attended pre-event press conference. "But for that reason, I arrived on the latest flight possible and I will leave on the earliest flight possible. But we are here, ready to race and fully concentrated."

Echoing similar sentiments regarding the unusual atmosphere was Raul Fernandez. The Trackhouse MotoGP Team rider noted that the overall vibe within the paddock felt noticeably tense compared to a standard grand prix weekend.

"This is a strange weekend, to be honest," the Spanish rider explained. "I am not 100 percent on form, and the situation is a bit tricky. Because the tension we are all feeling is not exactly ideal." Fernandez pointed out that the underlying pressure stems largely from personnel who would rather not be traveling to the region under the current circumstances, though everyone remains focused on the job at hand.
