Lando Norris has conceded he needs to make better decisions as McLaren aims to draw a line under his controversial clash with team-mate Oscar Piastri during the closing stages of the Singapore Grand Prix. Further discussions were held at the team headquarters last week to resolve the matter following the dramatic final-lap incident at Marina Bay.
The collision during their battle for fourth place cost the Woking-based outfit valuable championship points and went directly against internal team principles. Team principal Andrea Stella previously confirmed that a thorough review would take place back at the factory, and the squad is now keen to move forward after addressing the execution errors.
Reflecting on the mishap ahead of the upcoming United States Grand Prix, the British driver expressed clear accountability for the incident. I take responsibility for my mistakes, and I learn from them, Norris was quoted in the team's official weekend preview.
This team is my motivation every weekend, and my aim is to repay the hard work everyone puts in by improving, making better decisions, and representing the team in the best possible way, he added as the squad prepares for the final stretch of the 2026 Formula 1 world championship.
The fallout from Singapore compounded a difficult triple-header for McLaren, which struggled to match rival upgrades and now faces intense pressure in the constructors' standings with only six rounds remaining in the season.
