Lando Norris has officially signed a new contract with McLaren that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2030 season. The deal secures the reigning Formula 1 world champion, who has been with the team since his debut in 2019.
This new contract has major implications for the driver market. With the deal running through 2030, Norris and Max Verstappen could both become available in 2031, potentially when V8 engines return. This could spark one of the fiercest driver negotiations in a decade.
Norris reaffirmed his loyalty to McLaren. “McLaren is my home, and I’m very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030,” he said in an official statement.
“When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to get McLaren back to the front and to win Championships. We’ve achieved that goal, but we want more, we want to keep on winning, and we know as a team that we’re capable of achieving it,” added the British driver.
Norris also expressed his excitement for the remainder of the season. “I can’t wait to get back in the car in Monza and I’m very excited about what the future holds for us, both over the rest of this season, and in the coming years,” he explained.
This decision secures one of McLaren's most valuable assets for the long term. With Norris consistently competitive, the Woking-based team has a strong foundation to keep fighting for titles in the new regulations era.
