The Formula 1 weekend at the Circuit of the Americas has once again been overshadowed by strict track limit enforcement that caught out numerous drivers during practice sessions. Ahead of the 2026 United States Grand Prix, race control recorded a staggering 207 lap time deletions as competitors continuously pushed beyond the permitted asphalt boundaries.
This mounting issue immediately drew strong comments from championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who openly addressed the unique and punishing layout of the Texas venue. The Italian rising star emphasized that every team and driver must exercise extreme caution to avoid costly mistakes during qualifying and the upcoming Grand Prix.
"The violation of track limits will be a hot topic in qualifying and probably also in the race. You are off the track in a split second," the championship leader explained regarding the fine margins at play.

He further detailed that the undulating elevation changes combined with unpredictable gusty winds create a treacherous environment for modern Formula 1 machinery. Drivers face immense technical hurdles when balancing aerodynamic downforce and precise braking points.
"The up and down nature of this racetrack makes the task more difficult, plus the wind that can catch you out badly in certain corners. Even in the braking zones you have to be extremely careful; brake just a little bit too much, a wheel locks up, and you end up off the track," he concluded.
