Jorge Martin has traveled to Sepang to attempt a miraculous return at the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix, just days after suffering a fractured wrist during a high-speed crash at Phillip Island.
The 2024 world champion went down hard during last weekend's sprint race in Australia while fiercely disputing the victory against title adversary Marc Marquez. The heavy impact forced him to sit out Sunday's main event, though deteriorating weather conditions ultimately led to the race cancellation, sparing him a larger points deficit.
Following the dramatic Australian sprint, Marquez holds a narrow 10-point advantage at the top of the championship standings over the Spaniard. Martin must now pass a crucial medical fitness assessment on Thursday before team officials can clear him to ride his Aprilia machine.

Detailing his recovery efforts ahead of the event, Martin remains cautious about his physical limitations but is pushing hard to be ready. "I’m getting the treatment I need to recover from the injury and arrive at Sepang in the best possible shape," said Jorge Martin regarding his physical status.
The Mallorcan rider emphasized that his participation hinges entirely on day-to-day evaluations rather than guaranteed certainties. "It’s impossible to make any predictions. We have to assess the situation day by day," he added concerning his upcoming track debut.
Sepang has historically presented steep hurdles for Martin and his team, highlighted by a massive pre-season crash in 2025 and a challenging weekend last year where Ai Ogura secured only a tenth-place finish as the manufacturer's top result.
