Red Bull Reveals Timeline to Fix Silly Verstappen and Hadjar Problems

The United States Grand Prix weekend left a lingering sense of frustration within the Red Bull Racing camp, despite Max Verstappen once again securing a podium finish. The atmosphere in the team hospitality on Sunday evening at the Circuit of the Americas lacked satisfaction. Team members acknowledged that rival pace was impossible to match, but both drivers were clearly frustrated that the squad failed to extract the full potential from its package in Austin.

The difficult Sunday afternoon was partly compounded by race-specific issues, such as strategic decisions Verstappen was unhappy with—particularly sticking with softer compound tyres—and inconsistent power unit behavior. However, the recurring struggles were heavily driven by two persistent problems plaguing the squad all year: poor race starts and technical radio malfunctions. This cumulative friction prompted outspoken remarks from Isack Hadjar in the media pen.

Speaking to media outlets including Motorsport.com, Hadjar did not hold back his annoyance regarding the minor operational faults holding the team back. "At the moment, it's the little things we can’t do. I have poor radio, I don't even know what's happening. And whenever I drop the clutch, it's going into a nightmare. If we fix these two issues, we might already be on the podium. It seems like we can do the hardest things, but we can’t do the silly things," Hadjar stated.

His reference to 'the hardest things' highlights Red Bull's impressive feat in overcoming an enormous early-season deficit where their race pace gap reached 1.2 seconds per lap. Yet, rectifying the start issues and stabilizing the radio communications proved far more complicated. When presented with these observations, team management clarified that the two matters must be handled separately. While the radio glitch is unacceptable for a front-running outfit and must be fixed before the end of the year, the start issue remains deeply complex and will persist as an obstacle until 2027.

According to Motorsport.com, the leadership admitted that radio malfunctions make operational execution exceptionally difficult for everyone involved, pushing it to an immediate priority. Conversely, the start vulnerabilities involve intricate clutch mechanics requiring long-term development to achieve reliable launch control.
