The MotoGP paddock at Motegi was treated to a stunning Saturday turnaround as Jorge Martin snatched a surprise pole position. The championship leader had struggled significantly on Friday, finishing down in eighth place.
A massive setup step overnight completely changed the narrative. Working closely with his garage, the Spaniard bounced back during final practice, showing ominous pace on used soft tires right behind teammate Marco Bezzecchi.
Meanwhile, Marc Marquez initially threw down the gauntlet by shattering the lap record on his very first flying lap. However, a series of costly mistakes on subsequent runs prevented the multi-time champion from improving, allowing Martin to steal the show by just 0.110 seconds.

The front row is rounded out by Pedro Acosta, who masterfully used a tow to secure third for KTM. The stage is now firmly set for a dramatic Sprint Race with the championship battle tightening up.
