The action at Motegi heated up dramatically as David Almansa unleashed a blistering lap to shatter the all-time record and secure pole position for the Japanese Moto3 Grand Prix. Shaking off the frustration of three crashes during Friday practice, the Spanish rider executed a flawless solo run to post a stunning benchmark of 1 minute 54.572 seconds.
The fight at the sharp end of the grid proved exceptionally tight as the young contenders pushed the limits in search of crucial grid advantage. Almansa's phenomenal pace officially eclipses the previous circuit record set by Ivan Ortola. Right behind him, rookie standout Brian Uriarte pushed hard for a second consecutive pole before sliding off at turn five, yet quickly recovered his machine to salvage a brilliant second place.
The front row was rounded out by Alvaro Carpe, who slotted in just a fraction behind his teammate to complete a strong showing for the squad. Meanwhile, championship leader Maximo Quiles had to settle for fourth position on the grid after a tactical battle in Q2, keeping the title fight wide open ahead of Sunday's crucial race.
Drama struck further down the order as penalties were handed out for yellow-flag infringements, shaking up the provisional starting lineup. Local heroes like Ryusei Yamanaka also fought valiantly to break into the top ten, ensuring an intense and unpredictable battle awaits when the lights go out.
