The competitive landscape of the FIM Supersport World Championship is set for a major shake-up ahead of the 2027 season following a decisive move by the Iwata manufacturer. Jeremy Alcoba has officially been confirmed to make the switch to Yamaha, embarking on an exciting new chapter in the world supersport category.

The 24-year-old Spanish rider has finalized a formal agreement with Yamaha Motor Europe to compete next season under the banner of the AS BLU CRU Racing Team. He steps directly into the seat previously occupied by reigning world champion Albert Arenas.

This roster change comes in the wake of significant rider movements within the paddock. Arenas is widely anticipated to make the ultimate step up into the premier WorldSBK championship class, leaving a highly coveted vacancy within the championship-winning team.

Yamaha is far from an unfamiliar brand for the young Spanish contender, who previously gained valuable championship experience riding for the manufacturer's official setup in the grand prix paddock.

Yamaha Motor Europe Road Racing Sporting Manager Niccolo Canepa expressed profound enthusiasm regarding the new signing. According to the Italian management, Alcoba's dominant streak during the closing races made him an undeniable choice for their premier world supersport program.

The newly signed rider will get his first taste of the machinery during winter testing sessions, setting the stage for the opening round of the championship scheduled to take place at Phillip Island in Australia.

Reflecting on his upcoming factory opportunity, the rider shared his immense motivation to hit the ground running and fight at the very front of the field from the opening weekend.

“I am extremely happy to ride for Yamaha in 2027. After two difficult seasons, I was only able to show what I am truly capable of during the final races. The opportunity to ride the bike that has won the world title for the past two seasons is massive, and our clear goal is to fight for the championship,” stated Alcoba.
