Nathan Herne held off a late charge from Lachlan Evennett to win a thrilling Trans Am race by just 0.5 seconds on Sunday. The Chevrolet Camaro #29 driver managed his pace perfectly to secure his fifth career clean sweep and strengthen his bid for a third championship.
Herne led the field away from the front row, getting a massive push from Cody Brewczynski to clear Todd Hazelwood into Turn 1. But Hazelwood fought back around the outside to reclaim second, with James Moffat slotting into third. Herne looked vulnerable early on but held his nerve.
The race intensified when Evennett carved his way from ninth to the top three, setting his sights on the leaders. Hazelwood briefly took the lead after three laps, but flapping bodywork on his left rear hampered his straight-line speed, allowing Herne to retake the lead two laps later.

Evennett eventually passed Hazelwood for second and set off after Herne. Behind them, Brewczynski, Hazelwood, and Moffat engaged in a multi-lap scrap for the remaining top-five spots. Brewczynski, a V8 SuperUtes regular, came out on top to claim his second consecutive third-place finish.
Further back, Blake Tracey charged from the rear of the grid to the edge of the top 10 after a DNF on Saturday. Moffat fell to sixth on the final lap, with Isaac Demellweek seventh, Tom Davies eighth, Jordan Freestone ninth, and Tracey completing the top 10.
Meanwhile, the second Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia race was abandoned when heavy rain hit just before the start. Cars initially took to the track on slicks, but organisers delayed the start to allow teams to switch to wets. After two laps behind the safety car, the race was red-flagged and declared with no racing laps completed.
In the reverse-grid Race 3, Diesel Thomas took victory. Mathew Basso finished second after leading much of the race, with Anthony Di Mauro completing the podium. Scott Andriske was fourth, just ahead of teammate Brandon Madden.
