The Swiss sidecarcross championship season reached its dramatic climax in Escholzmatt, Entlebuch, where Marco Heinzer and his brother Remo Heinzer clinched their sixth national title after a grueling campaign. The journey to the crown was far from straightforward, requiring immense resilience following physical setbacks and strategic scheduling decisions made by the Illgau-based duo from the very beginning of the year.
Marco entered the national championship highly motivated to race alongside his brother, who had spent the previous year recovering from an injury. Their intent was clear right from the opening round in Wohlen, where they unexpectedly swept both race victories. However, the allure of competing in a world championship Grand Prix proved too strong, prompting the Heinzers to skip the domestic round in Schlatt and instead enter the simultaneous World Championship event in Kramolin, Czech Republic.
Taking on a grueling race distance and pace that nearly doubled domestic standards, the brothers exceeded expectations by finishing eleventh overall. Reflecting on the result, Marco stated that he was genuinely surprised to have narrowly missed out on a top-ten finish during their first world championship outing of the season.

Returning their focus to the national series, Heinzer/Heinzer successfully took over the championship lead heading into the final stages. A major scare occurred during the penultimate round in Ehrendingen in mid-September when Remo suffered a foot injury in the opening heat, forcing the team to dial back their pace while still managing to extend their points advantage to 27.
The title fight went down to the wire at the season finale in Escholzmatt. Following an injury sustained by Martin Betschart a week prior at the SXoN, the still-recovering Remo was forced back into the sidecar to secure the remaining points needed for the championship. Needing at least a second-place finish to seal the deal, Marco and Remo secured that crucial spot in the first heat and followed it up with a race win in the second moto, proudly earning their sixth national title together.
