The Blanchard Racing Team (BRT) will be without its owner for this weekend's Trans Am Series round at The Bend. Tim Blanchard is forced to sit out due to business commitments in Germany that cannot be postponed.
His seat will be taken by Toyota GR Cup regular Ben Casabene, who will race for Maverick Performance. Although it's his first time with the team, Casabene is no stranger to the category, having previously made cameos in both Trans Am and TA2, including an outing at The Bend earlier this year.
"It's great to be coming back to the Trans Am Cup Series again this weekend at The Bend," said Casabene. "I've done some laps here earlier in the year in a TA2, so I'm familiar with the West circuit and the cars."
"I'm joining a new team this weekend with Maverick Performance. They have had some really strong results the last few rounds, so I am really looking forward to working with them."
Maverick team owner Gerard McLeod was enthusiastic about Casabene's potential. "Pip is a natural racer... whether it's karts, GR Cup or Trans Am he's got the gift behind the wheel," said McLeod. "It's only a matter of time before he's a mainstay in the industry, and we are stoked to be a part of his journey to the top."
The young driver will be guided by Brian Cottee, a former Walkinshaw engineer now with BRT in Super2. Cottee will mentor Casabene throughout the three-race weekend.
