Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Police have arrested four men in connection with the violent robbery of Willi Weber, the former manager of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, following a coordinated international operation.

The suspects, aged between 32 and 55, were detained in Romania. Authorities confirmed that the arrests were part of a cross-border investigation involving law enforcement agencies in Germany, France and Romania. The home of a further 31-year-old suspect was also searched, while additional properties in France and Germany were raided as part of the inquiry.

The robbery took place last December at Weber’s villa in Stuttgart. According to investigators, Weber was restrained alongside his wife and housekeeper while intruders forced open multiple safes inside the property. Cash and jewellery worth several hundred thousand euros were reportedly stolen during the incident.

The four arrested men have been remanded in custody and are expected to be extradited to Germany to face formal charges. Prosecutors are continuing to assess the full scope of the case, including the possibility of further suspects.

Stuttgart’s chief of police, Markus Eisenbraun, described the severity of the crime in an official statement.

“The unprecedented ruthlessness with which the suspects acted has naturally increased the pressure on the investigation.

“Unfortunately, we cannot take away the feeling of defencelessness and bewilderment experienced by those affected, but we can ensure that no more people are subjected to such terrible attacks in their own homes.”

Investigators believe Weber may not have been the only victim of the group. Authorities suspect the same individuals could have carried out similar robberies targeting other couples, indicating a potentially broader pattern of organised criminal activity.

While Weber’s long-standing association with Schumacher made the case particularly high-profile within motorsport circles, police emphasised that the investigation is focused strictly on the criminal network involved and the recovery of stolen assets.

The case now moves into the judicial phase, with extradition proceedings underway and further investigative steps continuing across multiple jurisdictions. German authorities have confirmed that efforts remain ongoing to identify any additional victims and to determine whether the group operated as part of a larger organised crime structure.
