The Ferrari garage was forced to burn the midnight oil once again, using their third of four permitted curfew exemptions for the entire 2026 season. This critical situation came to light after FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer transmitted an official report to the sports stewards ahead of the third free practice session.
According to the Federation's official findings, several mechanics from the Prancing Horse remained inside the circuit perimeter during the strict restriction window. This restricted timeframe spans from nine o'clock on Friday night until eight-thirty on Saturday morning, maintaining a strict eleven-and-a-half-hour blackout period.
The curfew rule requires personnel to vacate the paddock area three hours prior to the scheduled start of FP3. Utilizing this specific exemption falls entirely within the four permitted exceptions allowed during the championship, meaning no formal disciplinary action or penalty needs to be adopted by the stewards.

Despite avoiding any immediate sporting sanctions, the margin for error has shrunk dramatically for the Maranello squad. Ferrari now has only a single joker remaining in their arsenal from now until the end of the current racing year.
Interestingly, the Italian outfit was not the sole team to break the paddock curfew in Mexico, as Aston Martin also played their second seasonal exemption of the four granted. While the FIA note refrained from detailing the specific garage activities or reasons behind the emergency work, the only major hurdle previously encountered in the Ferrari camp involved the power unit of Lewis Hamilton, who had to throw in the towel during FP2.
