Fernando Alonso has once again turned heads, not with his on-track exploits but with his extraordinary private car collection. The two-time Formula 1 world champion was recently spotted taking delivery of a Bugatti 16.4 Veyron Grand Sport, wrapped in striking chrome. The news first circulated after a video of him receiving the hypercar went viral on social media.
Alonso, who currently races for Aston Martin, is known for his dream garage. His collection is rumored to include a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, a Pagani Zonda Verde Diamante, and now the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. This Veyron is no ordinary machine; it packs an 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing 1001 horsepower in early versions and 1200 horsepower in later models. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 407 km/h. Alonso opted for a bold chrome wrap, abandoning the classic two-tone design.
Fan reactions were mixed with admiration. Many praised Alonso's taste. “His collection is astounding!!” one fan commented on Instagram. Another added, “Bro collecting hypercars like Pokemon.” The spotlight on Alonso's collection comes right after the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the brand-new Madring circuit. In that race, Alonso finished 17th, while his teammate Lance Stroll retired.
It has been a tough 2026 season for the Silverstone-based team. Aston Martin introduced a B-spec car at the Hungarian Grand Prix, followed by power unit upgrades at the Dutch Grand Prix. Currently, the team sits 10th in the constructors' standings with only three points, ahead of the newly formed Cadillac team. Despite the on-track struggles, Alonso has found a way to treat himself off the track.
