F1 Standings 2026: Antonelli Pulls Away After Singapore Sprint Drama

The battle for the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship intensified dramatically following a chaotic and unpredictable Sprint Race at the Singapore Grand Prix. Andrea Kimi Antonelli has further extended his championship lead at the top of the drivers' standings after securing crucial points, while his closest title rival suffered a disastrous outing under the lights of Marina Bay.

A major blow was dealt to George Russell who failed to score a single point after crashing out of the race early on. Starting from the front of the grid, he unfortunately lost control and slammed into the barriers on the main straight on just the second lap while leading the pack, handing a massive advantage to his competitors.

This misfortune played right into the hands of Antonelli, who managed a fourth-place finish. The valuable points haul allows the Italian driver to stretch his advantage to an 89-point margin over his closest teammate in the Silver Arrows garage, solidifying his commanding position at the summit of the championship table.

Further up the order, Lewis Hamilton delivered a stellar drive to secure second place under the checkered flag, closely followed by his Scuderia Ferrari stablemate Charles Leclerc, who rounded out the podium positions in third place after a tense defensive display.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen climbed higher up the standings by claiming victory in the Singapore sprint event. The Dutch driver now sits fifth overall, trailing Leclerc by a mere single point following a late-race collision between the two McLaren cars that shook up the final points-paying positions.
