Former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya has backed Charles Leclerc to secure victory this weekend at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Despite Ferrari's positive momentum in recent rounds, the Monegasque driver had previously downplayed suggestions that the Italian squad enters the Mexican weekend as the outright favorite.
Analyzing the upcoming grand prix, Montoya believes the layout of the Mexican circuit suits Ferrari's current package quite well. The Maranello outfit has strong potential to perform at a high level, particularly given the unique aerodynamic and power unit demands posed by the high altitude of Mexico City.
Furthermore, Montoya anticipates a thrilling battle unfolding on track, featuring reigning world champion Max Verstappen and emerging contenders at the sharp end of the grid. The notoriously long drag down to the first corner is once again expected to deliver high-drama racing right from the moment the lights go out.

Concluding his weekend forecast, the Colombian racing veteran laid out his exact podium prediction for Sunday's grand prix. He slotted the Ferrari star on the highest step of the rostrum, with the Dutch champion and rookie sensations rounding out the top three positions.
