Ahead of a weekend full of uncertainty at the Madring circuit, Cadillac drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez are unable to hide their optimism. Formula 1's debut on the streets of Madrid is predicted to be chaotic, and for a backmarker team, chaos is a golden opportunity.

Madring is no ordinary circuit. This semi-permanent track has already proven its ferocity: in two days of Formula 3 testing, there were a staggering 19 red flags! Ferrari also had a filming day there and quickly realized how narrow the corners are and how close the walls are to the racing line. One small mistake could spell disaster, and that opens the door for teams like Cadillac to steal their first points of the season.

"It's an interesting track," said Bottas, whose best finish this season is 13th in China. "It looks good, but it's difficult. A big challenge for everyone, so I'm looking forward to it." He added, "I think it could be messy. It's one of those tracks that could make for an interesting race weekend, so that's always an opportunity for us."

Perez, who sits last in the standings thanks to two 14th-place finishes, was equally excited. "It will be fun, it will be challenging, and there can be some opportunities. I don't think it's any more dangerous than Jeddah, to be honest, but we'll see. I hope it can be a bit of an opportunity for us," said the Mexican. However, he admitted that the upgrades hoped for in Madrid are still 50-50. "It's a little bit of a mess, probably with the factory getting the parts here. We'll see what happens," he added.

Cadillac is indeed rooted to the bottom of the standings, battling mainly with Aston Martin. However, on a narrow street circuit that demands bravery, a well-balanced package often matters more than raw speed. If incidents multiply, it is not impossible that the American outfit finally breaks their duck and secures their historic first F1 points.
