The home race weekend for Haas in Austin concluded on a disappointing note as Esteban Ocon could only manage a 14th-place finish in the main Grand Prix. The French driver admitted that persistent handling issues with his car continue to hinder his race pace.
Starting from 15th on the grid, the Frenchman initially showed brilliant racecraft by rocketing up to 12th place off the line. He managed to maintain that same position even after completing his sole pit stop of the afternoon.
However, during the second half of the race, Ocon was forced to yield to the superior pace of the Audi cars and rookie driver Lindblad, ultimately crossing the finish line in 14th position.

Reflecting on the race, Ocon highlighted the team's strong starting prowess while acknowledging the recurring technical hurdles. We made an exceptional start as it often happens to us, because we are the best in this aspect, Ocon commented.
Since the beginning of the year, we always gain two or three positions at the start, and we succeeded again at COTA. I am proud of the good work done in this respect, and the pit stop went well too, he added.
Despite the positive launch, Ocon pointed out the fundamental flaws that resurfaced during the longer stints. In the second stint, we struggled to keep the other cars behind, and the problems encountered throughout the weekend presented themselves once again.
I continued to have front locking issues and a marked understeer in the high-speed sections, he revealed, emphasizing the urgency to analyze and resolve these critical areas ahead of the upcoming round in Mexico.
