Esapekka Lappi was left searching for answers after a bruising opening day at the latest WRC round. His only realistic target will likely be to catch M-Sport Ford's Irish duo Josh McErlean and Jon Armstrong, who are around ten seconds up the road. Otherwise, any progress will depend on misfortune for others.
"Let's hope so (that we can find more pace). But considering the time gap and what lies ahead tomorrow, I think it is impossible. We certainly won't give up, though," Lappi said. It's a moment that demands a hard look in the mirror, a search for solutions from within.
For Lappi, the remainder of this rally is about more than just results; it's about rebuilding his shattered confidence. In the brutal world of rallying, the ability to bounce back from adversity is crucial. Lappi knows he must quickly find answers to his set-up and mental struggles if he is to remain competitive for the rest of the season.
