Colton Herta Set to Replace Valtteri Bottas at Cadillac in F1 2027

The 2027 Formula 1 driver line-up for Cadillac remains officially unfinalised, with reserve driver Colton Herta emerging as a leading candidate to replace Valtteri Bottas next season.

While both Bottas and Sergio Perez joined the new F1 outfit on long-term agreements, internal evaluations within the team suggest that final decisions regarding the race seats are still very much open to review.

Speaking during the official press conference in Austin, Cadillac team boss Marcin Budkowski deliberately kept his options open when questioned about the exact composition of his driver pairing for 2027.

"This is the last place I would comment on driver contracts, and in general, I think it's not something that is done in the press," Budkowski stated to reporters in the paddock.

The team management faces a strategic dilemma between sticking with the stability of two experienced veterans from championship-winning backgrounds or introducing fresh talent with potentially higher future upside.

Sergio Perez appears entirely secure in his position, having consistently outperformed his teammate throughout the current campaign and aggressively pushing the engineering department behind the scenes.

In contrast, Valtteri Bottas has endured a challenging run of form, highlighted by a notable lack of pace during the Singapore Grand Prix where he lagged significantly behind his garage neighbor.

This performance gap has cast serious doubt over his future, paving the way for 26-year-old Herta to potentially step up and secure a coveted race seat in motorsport's premier category.
