Clay Osborne has officially been named Porsche Motorsport Australia's nominee for the global Porsche Junior Shootout, which will take place in November at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, Portugal. The New Zealand driver earned the nod after a rigorous evaluation process that weighed not only on-track race performance but also the comprehensive traits required to become a complete racing driver.

The Kiwi was selected following a three-day training camp conducted by Focus Driver Performance at Tambourine Mountain Glades and the RACQ Mobility Centre at Mount Cotton, where 15 junior drivers were thoroughly tested. Osborne now joins an elite group of past nominees put forward by Porsche Motorsport Australia, including Matt Campbell, Jaxon Evans, Andre Heimgartner, Nick Foster, Jordan Love, Cam Hill, and Dylan O’Keeffe.

“It’s something that I’ve been aiming for over the last couple of years since joining Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia,” Osborne said regarding his selection. “I was extremely excited to get the nomination and really looking forward to representing Australia over in Portugal.” He further noted his ambition to emulate fellow New Zealander Jaxon Evans in filling those prominent shoes on the international stage.

The ultimate winner of the international shootout will receive a valuable scholarship prize directed toward contesting a full season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, which serves as a key support category on the Formula 1 support bill. Porsche Cars Australia senior motorsport manager Craig Nayda praised the young driver's exceptional progression through the domestic ranks.

“Congratulations to Clay on his official nomination as our official Porsche Michelin Junior for 2026,” stated Craig Nayda. “Clay’s progression through the Porsche ranks in Australia is exactly what our Junior Programme is designed to achieve. He’s proven throughout 2026 to be a consistent front runner and now has the tools and experience both on and off track to take on whatever racing path he decides to take.”

Heading into the penultimate round of the Carrera Cup season at the Gold Coast 500, Osborne sits third in the championship standings after slipping from second following a difficult outing at Mount Panorama. Competing in only his second full Carrera Cup campaign, the young charger has firmly established himself as a genuine front-runner, highlighted by his maiden victory at the Australian Grand Prix and a second win in Darwin, setting the stage for his upcoming trip to Portugal.
