Former Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner has finally broken his silence in an exclusive interview with 60 Minutes Australia, revisiting the misconduct allegations that once shook the Milton Keynes-based outfit. Even though 15 months have passed since the internal drama unfolded across the Formula 1 paddock, the repercussions of that independent investigation continue to spark discussions among dedicated grand prix enthusiasts.
The controversy originated in December 2023 when a female employee lodged a formal grievance regarding alleged inappropriate and controlling behavior. Following the complaint, parent company Red Bull GmbH appointed an external specialist barrister to conduct a massive independent investigation. On February 28, 2024, the official verdict cleared Horner of any wrongdoing whatsoever.
However, the story did not end there. Scarcely 24 hours after his clearance was made public, an anonymous email containing 79 alleged WhatsApp screenshots between Horner and the complainant was leaked to hundreds of F1 journalists, rival team principals, and FIA executives. This massive leak ignited an unprecedented global media storm within the elite motorsport community.

Addressing the relentless wave of controversy, Horner maintained an uncompromising stance during the television broadcast. "Look, I deny any accusations that have been made against me," he stated firmly, emphasizing his innocence regarding the claims brought forward during the internal proceedings.
The legal process faced another hurdle when the complainant filed a formal appeal, triggering a secondary investigation overseen by a second independent lawyer. On August 8, 2024, Red Bull GmbH announced that the appeal had been dismissed, fully exonerating Horner for a second time and bringing formal closure to the corporate inquiry.
When asked whether he harbored any regrets or wished he had managed the turbulent period differently, Horner remained completely unfazed, opting to focus on his personal and professional future rather than dwelling on the past.
"I think probably enough has been written and said about it... for me it's about looking forward rather than backwards now," Horner expressed. "So no regrets. Look, I think, as I say, I followed the process; I believed in the process; it was dismissed twice. You move, you know, you focus on the next challenges in your life, your career, and obviously the priorities of your family."
Throughout the ordeal, Horner presented a united front alongside his wife, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. The most notable moment occurred when the couple walked hand-in-hand down the paddock at the Bahrain Grand Prix in 2024, immediately after the anonymous leak hit global news outlets.
Reflecting on the situation, Horner attributes much of the sensationalism surrounding that era to his high-profile marriage and the outsized celebrity status fueled by Netflix's hit series, Drive to Survive. The convergence of elite sports politics and entertainment media created a pressure cooker environment that tested his resilience both inside and outside the paddock.
