Charles Leclerc has issued a stark warning regarding the upcoming race, predicting that overtaking will prove nearly impossible during the grand prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
Having topped both practice sessions on Friday, the Scuderia Ferrari star ultimately had to settle for third place on the starting grid. His teammate Lewis Hamilton captured a sensational maiden pole position for the Maranello squad, while George Russell slotted into second for Mercedes.
Despite expressing total confidence in his race pace and overall car balance, Leclerc highlighted that the exceptionally low-grip conditions and aerodynamic challenges at the high-altitude venue will heavily restrict passing opportunities throughout the field.

"I think the pace is good. I think the car feels good and felt good since FP1. So I think on that we've got the race pace, but I doubt there will be any overtakes tomorrow," Leclerc explained during the post-qualifying press conference.
"I've tried more in FP2, and it's just very difficult because the overtake mode doesn't do much. So, I think whatever the standing is after Turn 3, it's going to be very difficult then to overtake. So, it's a bit of a shame that I didn't do the job eventually when it mattered."
Asked about leveraging a slipstream from his garage neighbor down the long run to Turn 1, the Monegasque driver emphasized keeping a calm approach and executing a clean start through the chaotic opening complex.
