Carlos Sainz received a reprimand after being investigated by the stewards following an unusual pit entry incident during first practice for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
The Spanish driver crossed the pit entry line at the final corner but did not continue into the pit lane. After passing the bollard, Sainz made a sharp left turn across the run-off area and rejoined the circuit.
The manoeuvre immediately attracted the attention of the stewards because the pit entry line and bollard define a driver’s commitment to entering the pit lane. Sainz was subsequently summoned to explain his actions after the session.

Sainz quickly informed his team over the radio that the movement had been caused by the car’s gearbox. However, that technical explanation still had to be assessed by the stewards against the manner in which he left the pit entry and returned to the track.
Following the investigation, the stewards decided to issue Sainz with a reprimand. No grid penalty or time penalty was included in the updated outcome.
The decision concluded the first-practice matter without a direct impact on Sainz’s starting position. His focus now shifts to the remaining Belgian Grand Prix sessions after the pit entry incident was resolved with an official reprimand.
