Nicolo Bulega has clinched the 2026 WorldSBK title at Cremona Circuit, a triumph that Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali says "goes beyond the sporting result". Bulega becomes the first Italian rider to win the Superbike World Championship with Ducati, doing so in the company's 100th anniversary year.
Bulega's season has been one of near-total domination. He won the first 21 races in a row and arrived at Cremona for round 10 with 26 wins and every pole position. At Cremona, however, he took a low-risk approach to secure the title, without a pole or a win. The championship-clinching moment in front of his home crowd proved emotional even for the usually reserved Bulega.
Domenicali emphasised the special significance of this victory. "There are victories whose meaning goes beyond the sporting result, and this is certainly one of them," he said. "Nicolo is the first Italian rider to become Superbike World Champion with Ducati, and he has done it in front of his home crowd, in the year in which we celebrate our centenary. It is difficult to imagine a more beautiful way to experience this moment!"
What makes Domenicali even prouder is Bulega's journey with Ducati. "We have seen Nicolo grow with us, win in Supersport, establish himself in Superbike and become the extraordinary rider he is today," he continued. He also praised the new Panigale V4 R, designed and developed in Borgo Panigale, which has won every race in its debut season despite managing progressively severe fuel-flow penalties.
At Donington, with four rounds remaining, the riders' title fight had already become an all-Ducati battle. Domenicali thanked everyone at Ducati, Ducati Corse, and Aruba.it for their hard work. "My thanks go to all the women and men of Ducati, Ducati Corse and Aruba.it for making possible a result that speaks, better than any words, to the quality of the work we have done together," he said.
This title will forever remain an important part of Ducati's history, and for Bulega, a new adventure awaits. From next year, he will continue his journey with Ducati in MotoGP, an exciting new chapter. "And once again, well done Nicolo, you are World Champion! Enjoy this moment because you have earned it," Domenicali concluded.
